Paul is a retired San Francisco cop, a recent widower and father of two daughters, Sarah and Lara.  In his retirement he buys a saloon. He can’t sleep and his wandering about the house at night, holding his old service gun, worry his daughters. Sarah blames her father’s alcoholism and saloon lifestyle for their mother’s sickness and death. Lara calls her father’s brother hoping his visit would calm her father’s erratic spirit.

Instead of tranquilizing the household, Bill’s visit stirs up an old family stress and jealousies. Traumatic accusations are thrown at Paul regarding his treatment of the mother. It is also revealed that Paul was forced to retire from the SFPD after a female cop accused Paul of assault. In his guilt at Sarah’s accusations, Bill burns down his saloon one night.

But in an act of familial reconciliation and redemption, when the police arrive to arrest their father, the daughters agree never to allow their father to be arrested. Lara finds their father’s service gun. When Sarah joins her sister’s side, Lara points the gun toward the front door where the police are pounding and calling for Bill to come out.
